Specimen storage and management is a vital component of our clinical trials service. We can store as many specimens as necessary, at the required storage temperature and for any length of time.
Our specimen storage facilities provide:
- Standard frozen storage at -20°C
- Long term storage at -70°C or -86°C
- Liquid Nitrogen storage
All systems are alarmed to assure consistent temperatures
All samples are continually monitored
All systems are supported by back up generators
Sample storage is controlled by a fully computerised storage tracking system. All samples are individually identified using alpha numeric/bar-coded labeling and are allocated specific storage locations, within rack, within shelf or bin and within freezer to ensure ease of retrieval when required.
This system is supported by full electronic and paper audit trails detailing courier documentation, quality of samples on receipt, notification of study protocol non-compliance issues including details of resolution actions taken and sample retrieval for despatch or disposal as required.
Example types of specimens we can store include:
- Plasma, serum, urine, CSF, semen and other body fluids
- Faecal samples
- Cytology slides / PAP smears
- Microbiology isolates
- Whole blood / DNA
- Biopsy tissue samples
- Histology tissue samples
- Pharmacokinetic (PK) samples
- Renal, bladder or gall bladder stones
