Centrally Managed Local Labs
The typical problems associated in working with local laboratories in clinical trials are well recognised and documented. The solution to this frequently difficult, frustrating and costly situation can be achieved by adopting the alternative approach of closely managing and interacting with each local laboratory and investigator site. This enables an effective ‘central’ lab service to be provided to clients.
This process consists of seven key components:
- Conducting effective auditing.
- A comprehensive contractual service agreement.
- Implementing joint study set-up meetings with local lab and site investigator staff.
- Working closely with client or sponsor project management staff and CRAs.
- Working closely with client or sponsor data managers.
- Management of national and international courier services.
- A full archiving service.
In summary POOL takes on the responsibility for the management of all study related laboratory requirements and issues, delivering to the client a high quality seamless central laboratory service, whilst allowing the lab sample to be analysed at the investigator’s local lab.
